A UK fugitive was arrested after he emerged from hiding to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Clint Butler, a 36-year-old who had escaped from HMP Spring Hill open prison, went to town to buy the game and ran into police.Eurogamer reports that Butler broke lockdown rules in the process of entering a city center to buy the game. Officers spotted him and a friend change direction upon seeing police, and asked to check his identification. He proceeded to kick one officer and try to run. He was restrained and admitted he’d given them a false name.Butler had been serving a 17-year sentence for robbery and firearms, which was set to end in 2024. But he escaped prison in November 2020, and the Thames Valley Police issued a warrant and told the public not to approach. He was re-apprehended on January 13, and the West Midlands Police recently published a video of the incident. He’s gotten an additional 13 months in prison for the escape, and another six months for assaulting officers.”Quite why he decided to risk being returned to prison by making the idiotic decision to come into town during lockdown with a friend to buy a video game will remain a bit of a mystery,” said police Superintendent Nick Rowe.
